What parents are saying

Hi, Rabbi Cooper, We just wanted to send a quick note to say thank you so much again for yesterday. I was particularly tentative about my emotional state with the event, but you were exactly what I needed, and we were thrilled with the morning. It felt intimate, meaningful and was just an overall lovely experience. The baby naming was icing on the cake! Thank you thank you for everything!

Allie & Adam

We are so appreciative to have been referred to Rabbi Cooper. He made us feel comfortable and confident choosing to have a Brit Milah at our home with just us and him physically present- a challenge we never expected before coronavirus. He made the actual circumcision so easy for us, even though we had to be the ones to hold our son. Rabbi Cooper is warm and reassuring and spoke meaningfully about this time in our lives. He has our highest recommendation.

We wanted to send along our heartfelt thanks for leading such a meaningful bris ceremony for our son Nadav. Eric and I both felt that you created a unique and significant moment for us. Our families and guests all appreciated your spirited words, approach and tone-setting so much. Thanks so much for bringing the guitar-ruach too.

Mollie and Eric, Proud Parents

Rabbi Mark Cooper is the first mohel I turn to when parents inform me that a baby boy has entered their lives. He possesses a unique combination of skill, sensitivity, passion, and experience. As a result, he creates a powerful life cycle moment that is warm, moving, meaningful, and filled with personal connection. I trust Rabbi Cooper to honor tradition, family and new life like no other.

Rabbi Craig Scheff, Orangetown Jewish Center, Orangeberg, New York

As a rabbi, I've attended countless britot and guided families on ceremonies on the welcoming of children into the covenant. However, when it came to planning a Brit Milah for my own son, I was somewhat panicked- how it would feel to hand over my newborn son to the Mohel for the circumcision, what would make for a meaningful ceremony, what would I need to know before and after.  I had encountered Rabbi Cooper through my work as a congregational rabbi and I was drawn to his calm and warm presence. When I went to his website I found that it answered many specific questions I had and of course when he agreed to be the Mohel for the Brit Milah I felt like my family was in good hands.  Rabbi Cooper was also extremely flexible in building the kind of ceremony I wanted. When the day arrived, my nerves were pretty high but each step of the way, Rabbi Cooper guided me with wisdom and generosity.  My anxiety diminished and I was able to take in the enormity of the moment. What a blessing to be guided by such a skilled, wise and gentle presence as Rabbi Cooper! I've recommended him every opportunity since!

Rabbi Felicia L. Sol, B'nai Jeshurun, New York, NY

Amidst the COVID pandemic, we welcomed our second son into this wild/confusing world. Afraid of the outside world but wanting to uphold the Jewish tradition of Brit-Milah, we reached out to Rabbi Cooper to guide us on how we can balance out our concerns. He made us feel extremely comfortable, shared how he would take all of the safe precautions to keep all of us safe and allowing our family to view via Zoom. With all of the elements we were dealing with, it could not have gone better. Besides performing a perfect job on our baby, he really orchestrated an enjoyable service for all of us. Thank you Rabbi Cooper. We are grateful you were able to help us and have already recommended him to other expecting parents. Todah Rabah!

Having given birth to our son during the Covid-19 pandemic, we were not sure whether we would be comfortable with a traditional Bris. But Rabbi Cooper allayed all our fears. Not only did he go above and beyond to ensure that we felt safe (he wore a mask, required the same of us and limited in-person attendees to those living in the household), but he also made the time and effort to get to know us over a series of video calls and to understand how we hoped to raise a family. Best of all, he tailored the ceremony to our preferences. The Bris itself wound up being so beautiful that we found ourselves thrilled that we were forced to do it over Zoom so that more of our out-of-town family and friends could participate.

Hi Rabbi, I just wanted to take a short moment to say thank you so much for the beautiful service yesterday. Now that I’m more calm and collected, I can truly say that baby Shlomo’s Brit Milah was what binds us together as a loving family, as a Jewish people and as a statement that we are stronger together when we all show that love. Your words touched us all and made us proud of who we are! So thank you again for making the day a special day to remember..

Judy, Proud Grandmother at a Bris in New York

Rabbi Mark Cooper is an accomplished and valued colleague. I was grateful to have him conduct the Bris for my grandson. He is a sensitive and attentive guide to young parents, a gifted and skilled practitioner of circumcision, and he made a memorable family celebration truly joyful and inspiring for all in attendance.

Rabbi Joseph H. Prouser, Temple Emanuel of North Jersey, Franklin Lakes, NJ

Rabbi Cooper performed the Bris on both of my sons.  As a Urologist, I was going to be a tough critic. The ceremony was warm and personal and most importantly the results were excellent. I have and will continue to recommend Rabbi Cooper as a mohel to friends and family.

Dr. Joshua Fiske, Urologist, West Orange, NJ

I’ve known Rabbi Mark Cooper for nearly 20 years as a parent and as a mohel. As the father of five sons, he is caring and attentive. He brings that same care and attention, along with skill and experience, to his work as a mohel. That is why I recommend him to the many new parents I meet in my work as a pediatrician. I know firsthand that parents who want to have a Bris for their son will be in good hands.
